Restorative Artistry · Menlo Park, California
For breast cancer survivors and those who have undergone mastectomy and reconstruction — realistic, dimensional areola restoration, created with profound care and artistry.
Of All the Work Yolanda Does
After everything a breast cancer journey asks of a woman — the diagnosis, the surgeries, the long road of reconstruction — there is often one last step. The reconstructed breast is whole in form but absent in detail: there is no areola, no nipple, no color. For many women, that final absence is the one they meet in the mirror every day.
Restorative areola tattooing is how Yolanda helps complete the journey. Using realistic, three-dimensional technique — the same painter's command of shadow, highlight, and color that defines her championship work — she recreates the natural appearance of the nipple-areola complex. The result is so convincing that many women say they forget anything was ever taken from them.
What Yolanda does best is exactly this: an areola that looks real. Her work is soft, feminine, and quietly elegant — shaped to your body, balanced in tone and proportion, and finished so it simply belongs. Nothing about it announces itself. It looks like you, the way you remember.
Meet Your Artist
"I understand the profound emotional and physical toll a mastectomy can take. With more than a decade of specialized experience in areola restoration, I have helped many women reclaim their confidence and find a quiet, lasting sense of healing."
No matter how far this work takes me, my heart remains here — with helping women reclaim what surgery took away. I approach each restoration not only as a work of art, but as a chance to restore dignity, confidence, and the simple comfort of recognizing yourself again.

Transform Your Journey
Seeing a complete silhouette in the mirror can profoundly restore self-esteem. Many women describe the feeling simply, and completely — like themselves again.
Restoring the areola completes the reconstruction — a quiet closure that supports both physical and emotional healing after a long and courageous journey.
Crafted with refined pigment and three-dimensional technique, your results hold their shape and softness for years — with refinement only if you wish it.
Excellence in Every Detail
A five-time world champion in realistic areola artistry — USA and international titles — bringing a painter's command of light, shadow, and color to work that is both strikingly realistic and deeply transformative.
Areola restoration is not about appearance alone; it is about reclaiming a sense of self. Every client is met with empathy, patience, and absolute discretion — from the first quiet conversation onward.
Advanced three-dimensional shading creates the illusion of depth, texture, and a natural nipple — without further surgery. Most people cannot tell it is a tattoo at all.
Yolanda's Zero-Trauma approach minimizes stress to the skin and supports smooth healing, in a sterile, private setting using only medical-grade pigments and equipment.

Your Options
For bilateral restoration, Yolanda designs your new areolas from your pre-surgery photographs whenever possible — recreating your own color, size, and placement — or, if you prefer, designing something new and beautiful together. Every choice is yours: shade, dimension, size, and shape. You are fully involved, every step of the way.
This is not a transaction. It is the restoration of confidence, of femininity, of wholeness — the quiet, private dignity of looking down and recognizing yourself again. Yolanda offers this work with patience, warmth, and absolute discretion.
All consultations and procedures take place in the calm and private setting of Inspiration Day Spa in Menlo Park — by confidential appointment only. Clients come from across the Peninsula and Bay Area.
What to Expect
We meet privately — by video, by phone, or in person — to understand your history and answer every question, with complete discretion and never any pressure.
Using your pre-surgery photographs whenever possible, we design color, size, and placement to match your body — or create something new and beautiful together.
Yolanda recreates the nipple-areola complex with realistic, three-dimensional technique. Most clients find the session far calmer and gentler than they expected.
Color settles over several weeks. A follow-up session ensures the dimension and tone heal exactly as intended, so the result is seamless and lasting.
Insurance & WHCRA
Areola restoration is the final stage of breast reconstruction. Under the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998 (WHCRA), group health plans covering mastectomy are required to cover all stages of reconstruction. Yolanda provides each client with a complete documentation package: a Letter of Medical Necessity, itemized superbill (CPT 11920–11922), and appropriate ICD-10 codes (Z90.11/12/13). Payment plans are available.
A note in honesty: reimbursement is determined by your individual plan and is never guaranteed. WHCRA applies to private group and individual health plans; it does not apply to Medicare or Medicaid, and some church or government plans may be exempt. We are honored to help you navigate the paperwork — coverage decisions rest with your insurer.

An Informed, Personal Choice
For many women, areola restoration is the final chapter of a deeply personal reconstruction journey.
After months — or sometimes years — of surgeries, healing, courage, and resilience, this final step deserves thoughtful consideration. While breast reconstruction restores form, restorative areola tattooing often helps restore visual completeness and a renewed sense of confidence.
Because of this, choosing the right artist matters. Patients are often introduced to areola tattooing through surgeons, reconstruction teams, medical centers, breast care specialists, and nonprofit organizations. These professionals provide invaluable support throughout the healing process.
However, every patient should know that they always have a choice. Regardless of where a referral originates, it is important to review an artist's healed work, artistic style, experience, credentials, and level of specialization before making a decision.
Restorative areola tattooing is not simply a tattoo procedure. It is a highly specialized form of realism that requires advanced understanding of skin behavior, pigment science, color theory, visual perception, and fine art.
A beautiful areola should feel natural. It should create harmony. It should be intentionally designed for the individual woman wearing it.
My own journey combines decades of artistic development through fine art, oil painting, cosmetology, advanced permanent makeup education, and years dedicated to mastering realism and restorative tattooing. As a five-time PMU champion, international educator, and award-winning artist, I have continuously challenged myself against some of the highest standards in the industry.
For me, competition was never about trophies. It was about refusing to settle for average — about continually improving so that every woman sitting in my chair receives the highest level of care, artistry, and attention possible.
Whether you choose to work with me or another artist, my hope is that you make an informed decision based on experience, proven results, and artistry that aligns with your personal vision.
Patient Rights
Patients are never required to receive areola tattooing from a specific provider or facility. We encourage every woman to review multiple portfolios, ask questions, compare styles, and choose the artist whose work best reflects her goals and expectations.
Caring for Women, Together
We proudly collaborate with surgeons, breast reconstruction specialists, oncology teams, nurse navigators, patient advocates, cancer support organizations, and nonprofit groups that serve women throughout their recovery journey.
Our mission is simple: to ensure every woman understands her options and has access to exceptional restorative artistry.
If you would like information about our restorative areola services, educational resources, or patient support materials, we would be honored to connect.
We appreciate your trust and will provide thoughtful educational information to help guide the next steps.

Yes — Yolanda uses three-dimensional shading and highlighting techniques to create the appearance of depth and dimension. The result is frequently described as indistinguishable from a natural areola.
Most reconstructed skin has reduced sensation, and Yolanda uses gentle, effective numbing throughout. The great majority of clients describe the session as far calmer and more comfortable than they had imagined.
Areola restoration is long-lasting. Color settles over several weeks and is designed to endure for years; an optional refinement session ensures the dimension and tone heal exactly as intended. Occasional touch-ups are available only if you wish.
Yes. For unilateral restoration, Yolanda designs a single areola to match your existing side in size, shape, and color. For bilateral restoration, she creates a balanced, symmetrical pair — matched to your pre-surgery photographs whenever possible.
Areola restoration is the final step, performed once reconstruction has fully healed — typically several months afterward. During your confidential consultation, Yolanda will confirm the right timing with you and, if helpful, your care team.
A referral is not required but is warmly welcomed. Yolanda works closely with care teams across the Peninsula and greater Bay Area and is pleased to coordinate with your surgeon or oncologist.
Yolanda offers areola restoration at Inspiration Day Spa in Menlo Park, CA — serving clients from Atherton, Palo Alto, Woodside, Portola Valley, and throughout the Bay Area. By confidential private consultation only.
